5-6+ Person Saunas for Your Home

A 6 person sauna covers around 6 m² (65 ft²) and seats 4 to 8 people depending on the bench layout. Northern Saunas imports these cabins prefabricated from Europe, in one-room or two-room layouts.

Why a 6-Person Sauna Fits Anywhere From 4 to 8 People

Capacity follows bench length, not a standard. A cabin rated for 6 people may seat as few as 4 or as many as 8, and interior volume decides which. The same spread runs across our saunas, cold plunges and hot tubs.

Capacity comes down to 3 details:

  • Bench layout, which decides whether the room seats six comfortably.
  • Cubic footage, which decides how the heat spreads once the room is full.
  • Two-tier benching, which puts part of the group in the hottest air and others lower, so group sessions stay comfortable.

How Much Does a 6-Person Sauna Cost?

Expect between roughly $9,000 and $30,000 depending on the model. 3 factors move that figure more than capacity alone:

  • Floor area, which sets how much timber and heating power the cabin needs.
  • An enclosed changing room, which adds a second room to the shell.
  • The exterior finish, from a tempered glass door to a full-glass front or a covered porch.

For a smaller group, a 4 person sauna covers the same ground for less.

Single-Room or Changing Room Cabins: 2 Layouts for a Large Outdoor Sauna

Every cabin in the range uses one of 2 layouts. Each is an outdoor sauna rather than an indoor sauna, and the split decides how the room works through a cold winter.

Single-Room Traditional Saunas

The single-room cabin-style saunas devote the whole footprint to the hot room. Walls are thermally modified timber, Thermowood or Thermo-Spruce outside, with alder benches inside. You change indoors, which suits a tight outdoor space.

Glazing varies from one model to the next. The Round Cube Relax opens a panoramic view behind a double-pane, 10 mm tempered glass front wall, while the Boreal lines up large front windows at 9.5 by 71.5 inches.

For a rounded profile, our outdoor barrel saunas are a separate collection.

Saunas With a Changing Room

The two-room cabins are rated for 5 people. The second room keeps boots and cold air out of the hot room, useful in a large outdoor sauna year-round, and the larger layouts add a covered porch.

Choosing a Sauna Heater for a 6-Person Home Sauna

The heater is not part of the set. Each cabin ships as a shell with its alder benches, and electric and wood sauna heaters are ordered separately to match the room volume.

Electric Sauna Heaters: Wall-Mounted or Floor-Standing

Huum and Harvia supply the electric units, wall-mounted or floor-standing, several of them with wifi control. Ventilation openings are designed with Huum for even heat distribution, rather than heat pooling above the upper bench.

Wood-Burning Sauna Heaters on Select Cabins

A wood heater is offered on select cabins. Wood-fired heat suits a site where a heavy electrical hookup would be awkward, and it holds consistent heat through a long traditional sauna session.

What Does a 6-Person Outdoor Sauna Need on Site?

Groundwork matters more than assembly: these cabins weigh 990 to 1,850 kg. Panels arrive pre-cut and bolt together, but 3 things must be ready:

  • A level surface with proper drainage, since the treated base frame sits 3 ⅞" above grade.
  • Clearance along the walls for the door swing and the 3 to 4 ventilation openings.
  • Electrical work signed off by a certified electrician, who runs the hookup from the electrical panel to the routing inside the walls.

Frequently Asked Questions About 6 Person Saunas

Is a barrel sauna or cabin sauna better for six people?

Neither wins outright. A barrel sauna wraps a curved ceiling around the benches and takes less ground, while a cabin keeps full headroom and can carry a changing room. This range is cabin-style, so barrel and cabin sit in separate collections.

Is a sauna heater included with a sauna for 6 people?

No. Each set covers the cabin, the top and bottom alder benches, the drawings, and the hardware. The heater appears under heater options, so you pick the output and mounting. The same shell takes an electric heater or a wood-burning one.

Can a 6 person sauna be relocated later?

Yes, within limits. These cabins are prefabricated, so the panels are pre-cut and bolt together rather than built in place. Moving one still means disconnecting the electrical hookup and preparing a second-level base, so plan it as a project.
